ABOUT US

The Science Teachers’ Association of Western Australia, known as STAWA, was established in 1944. STAWA is an independent association of Science Educators dedicated to promoting science and science teaching in Western Australia.

STAWA has grown to include pre-service, primary, secondary, and tertiary teachers and to be strong financially. Prior to 2010, STAWA was based on Osborne Park. From January 2010 to January 2013, the organisation leased premises from Curtin University at the Resources and Chemistry Precinct. From 2013 to 2022, STAWA worked out of its own premises in Cannington. Today, the organisation is now based in Willetton.
