COLOUR: Ideas to Engage Kindergarten children

A resource developed for teachers to assist children in exploring the colours of their world by Dr Christine Howitt

This new STAWA primary science resource has been developed specifically for early childhood educators, with an emphasis on those working with 4-year-old children. Colour: Ideas to Engage Kindergarten Children presents a wide range of science ideas and activities. The activities are based on an integrated, play-based, hands-on and inquiry approach to learning science with strong links to literacy, numeracy, art and technology. They help to develop children’s knowledge, skills and understanding of colour in their everyday environment.

Colour: Ideas to Engage Kindergarten Children provides opportunities to:

  1. relate to colour through a range of texts and language
  2. identify and describe a range of everyday colours
  3. mix red, blue and yellow paint colours in various combinations to make other colours
  4. play, explore and investigate colours in various media

Colour: Ideas to Engage Kindergarten Children is only $15 and available from STAWA. Members of course are eligible for a discount.
